Yuliia Elyas

Yuliia Elyas is an artist and activist, currently based in Utrecht. She holds a master's degree in fine arts from HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. She is the founder of the Help Ukraine Utrecht initiative—a project aimed at providing humanitarian aid and support to Ukrainians affected by the war - started in Utrecht amidst the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. In her artistic practice, Yuliia Elyas delves into the mechanisms that shape social narratives, exploring the influence of stories on our realities. From museum archives to modern technology, she questions the role of artistic intervention in this process, while also examining the unique geographies and temporal shifts that mark the lifespan of ideas.
