Video room: The Hero in You

The Hero in You is an impact art project born in 2022 at the “Avondvrede” shelter in Bergen op Zoom, serving displaced Ukrainians. Led by artist Annemarieke van Peppen, this initiative brought together Ukrainian and Dutch creatives.

Through an immersive exhibition, a book, a documentary, and a thought-provoking mirror installation, the project highlights the experiences of Ukrainian refugees and the Dutch volunteers who aided them during the war. It aims to inspire, provoke introspection and empathy.

This project serves as a reminder that heroes exist everywhere, even in the most unexpected places, and invites you to explore the hero within yourself.
