Video room: The Vault

Animation film "The Vault" based on the mystical poem of the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko, "The Great Vault." This project has become an integral part of my response to the current situation associated with the full-scale War of Russia against Ukraine.

The poem, written over 150 years ago, remains relevant and touching to the heart despite its age. Its words touch our essence, evoking emotions and prompting us to reflect on the past and future, on tragedy and hope. This poem is not just a historical document but also an eternal witness to human suffering and aspirations.

My goal is to breathe new life into this poem through an animated film. I want Ukrainians to look at their history and culture from a new perspective. Culture and art play a crucial role in the backbone of society, nation, and state. Without them, we become empty, deprived of identity.

To emphasize the uniqueness of Ukrainian culture, I employed my specific technique of ink drawing on canvas. This technique reflects the mystical and philosophical nature of the film, creating a visual embodiment of the poetic narrative. The film is voiced in the Ukrainian language, and I hope this allows more people worldwide to hear and feel the beauty of this language, one of the most melodious in the world.

My goal is not only to provide Ukrainians with an opportunity to be proud of their heritage but also to showcase Ukrainian culture and art to the world. Mutual understanding and the convergence of cultures are key moments in building a new society and a new world.
